Post App UI/UX
Modern Motors Inc. was founded in 2001 as a trading company exporting luxury cars internationally. The company has commenced in domestic opportunities with the development of Post App. The iOS app helps consumers sell their used cars to licensed dealers for a fair price.
I was brought on to the team in 2018 to design the visual identity and user interface for the app. I worked with a small group: James Kim from marketing, Daniel Mo, Ryan Han, and Wonwoo Lee from development to create the App. Post app bridges the gap between sellers and dealers offering a transparent transaction and dealer credibility. The app's user interface is user-friendly, simple, and works similarly to a social platform.

DESIGN QUESTION
Is it possible to bridge the gap between sellers and dealers when selling used vehicles?
OVERVIEW
OBJECTIVES & PROCESS
Moving past the traditional B to C model in the used vehicle market. Post is a car trading app that provides sellers a direct quote for their car in real time from multiple dealers. The objective of the product is to create a space that can bridge the gap between sellers and dealers by offering benefits to both sides. An app that offers sellers a transparent platform to compare prices, while offering dealers an alternative way to stock their inventory.
RESEARCH
SELLER & BUYER SURVEY
We conducted interviews with professional car dealers. In addition to online surveys to help us understand the used car market. We've summarized these insights into pain points that have helped us understand what problems need to be solved.
USER PAIN POINTS
As a Seller:
• Inconsiderate buyers that don't show up at planned meeting times.
• Wasted time spent on offers that are too low or buyers that walk away.
• Overestimating the price of a car.
• Where to store or park the car while it is being put on sale.
• Last minute price haggling.
• Advertising to sell a car.
As a Buyer:
• Inconsiderate sellers that don't show up at planned meeting times.
• The seller is not prepared with the proper and needed documents.
• The seller has little knowledge about cars.
• Fraudulent images used to hide rust, dents, and scratches.
• Payment, registration, and title transfer that accumulate charges from out of pocket.
• Unable to know about car's history.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
MARKET OPPORTUNITIES
Industry market reports state that the used car industry is worth $350 billion. In the past five years, it has grown by 4.6%. A number of apps have been introduced to help users sell cars quickly without the hassle of research. However, these apps only give sellers a single price option that benefits dealers or dealerships that run the app.
RESEARCH INSIGHTS
SELLERS WANT CONTROL & DEALERS WANT CREDIBILITY
Through our research, we've learned that people are skeptical about selling their cars to dealers. Users will often settle for a single price offer because it's easier than researching alternative price options.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Selling a used car for the first time to a dealer gives the dealer the upper hand enabling them to haggle for a better price.
PROTOTYPING
IDEATE AND VALIDATE
We mapped out the user journey of a typical buyer and seller to visualize the in-app process of buying a car (B) and selling a car (C).

CONCLUSION
REFLECTION & FUTURE STEPS
Selling a car to a dealer can be intimidating with pre-existing assumptions that make it hard to trust a dealer. We created a product that builds dealer credibility through user feedback and price flexibility that gives the seller full control of the selection process.
The next steps are to test the product on various devices to find that all elements of design and user experience are working correctly and as intended. Creating a marketing strategy and preparing for the app's launch.
